Health authorities in Egypt and Tunisia confirmed additional fatalities due to the coronavirus outbreak on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Egyptian Health Ministry said 13 deaths and 168 new virus infections were recorded, taking the country’s tally to 101,177 cases, including 5,661 deaths, and 84,969 recoveries.
Tunisia’s Health Ministry, meanwhile, said it had registered 10 fatalities and 747 new cases of coronavirus between Sept. 11 and 12.
Tunisia’s count now rose to 7,382, including 117 deaths, and 2,175 recoveries.
Since first being detected in Wuhan, China in December, COVID-19 has claimed more than 933,000 lives in 188 countries and regions.
The US, India, and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.
Over 29 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 21 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
