ANKARA
Turkish volleyball club Eczacibasi VitrA won the silver medal in the 2019 Women’s FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship on Sunday with a 3-1 loss to Italy’s Imoco Volley.
Eczacibasi VitrA won the first set 25-22 in Shaoxing, China to lead the final 1-0.
But Imoco Volley came back from the 1-0 deficit, winning three sets 25-14, 25-19, and 25-21 and scoring their first-ever world championship.
Eczacibasi VitrA were the 2015 and 2016 world champs.
The Turkish teams in this competition, Eczacibasi VitrA and VakifBank, both eyed the title but are coming home without the gold.
