A total of 15 people have died in a canoe accident today on river Lukuga in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to police and eyewitnesses, at least 15 people, mostly students, perished today after the makeshift canoe they were traveling on river Lukuga in the DRC.

Police officer, Sergeant Pecos Makanga of Nyemba village police said: ”We got information that the boat was carrying at least 30 people when it overturned. Among those on the boat were children going to school.”
