ANKARA
Daniel Pancu, a former player at Istanbul powerhouse Besiktas, is taking over as chairman of second-tier Romanian team Rapid Bucharest, said the club in a statement Friday.
Pancu previously worked as a manager and player for the team.
He also played for Besiktas from 2002 to 2006, helping them win the Turkish league title in 2003.
