Four of the top five valuable banking brands were Chinese firms this year, according to a report released by a leading valuation and strategy consultancy on Tuesday.

Brand Finance’s report, titled Banking 500 2022, showed that Chinese investment bank ICBC maintained its leading spot on the list with a brand value of $75.1 billion in 2022.

The other top five banks were the China Construction Bank ($65.5 billion), Agricultural Bank of China ($62 billion), Bank of China ($49.6 billion), and the Bank of America ($36.7 billion).

In the top 10 list were four more US banks and another Chinese lender, for a total of five of each.

Among the top 500 banking brands, 51 were Chinese with a total value of $438.7 billion, 76 were American ($313.7 billion), nine Canadian ($73.1 billion), and 19 British ($37.5 billion).

The total brand value of the top 500 banks amounted to $1.38 trillion, the report showed.
