A major police operation is underway in the Austrian capital Vienna after shots were fired in the city center Monday evening, officials said.
“Shots fired in the Inner City district – there are persons injured – KEEP AWAY from all public places or public transport – don’t share any videos or photos!” the Vienna police said on Twitter.
Shots were fired near a synagogue, said local media.
Austrian daily Kronen Zeitung reported that at least one police officer was seriously injured in the shooting.
