ANKARA
Australia lost a premier gold medalist Paralympic athlete to a traffic accident on Wednesday.
“Paralympics Australia is deeply mourning the loss of legendary eight-time Paralympian Kieran Modra,” the Australian Paralympic Committee said on its website.
It added that the five-time Paralympic gold medalist was killed when his bike collided with a car in Adelaide, in South Australia.
Modra, 47, a swimmer and cyclist, won five gold and five bronze medals in eight Paralympic Games.
