Gul: We Say Yes In Principle To All Demands Of U.S. From Turkey

ANKARA - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said on Sunday that Turkey said 'yes in principle' to demands of the U.S. from Turkey regarding the reconstruction of Iraq, adding under which conditions such demands would be met would become clear in the coming days.
After speaking in a tv programme, Foreign Minister Gul responded to questions of journalists.
Upon a question about the demands of the U.S. from Turkey, Gul said that Turkey in fact stated that it would help in political and physical re-building of Iraq.
''We say 'yes' to all of these in principle, but under which conditions such demands would be met would become clear in the coming days,'' Gul said.
When reminded about the statements of Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis that ''we succeeded in Enosis,'' Gul said he didn't know if these words were true.
''If such things were told, none of these words would contribute to peace. Besides the rightfulness of the Turkish side would be proven in the world and it will show how much the concerns of the Turkish side are right. But I don't think that such words were told. If they are told, it will show how right the discourse of TRNC President Rauf Denktas is,'' he said.
Upon a question, Gul said that information should be given to TRNC officials about the meeting of Simitis with TRNC opposition leaders.
