E.U. - Turkey Associate Partnership Council To Convene In Luxembourg

LUXEMBOURG - The Associate Partnership Council, the most important decision-making organ between the European Union (EU) and Turkey, will convene in Luxembourg on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister George Papandreou of current EU Term President Greece will represent the EU at the meeting while Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will attend the meeting on behalf of Turkey.
During the 42nd meeting of the Associate Partnership Council, the reviewed Accession Partnership Accord, which was submitted by the EU Commission on March 26, will be approved.
The EU will present an assessment report about Turkey's EU membership process.
The report includes political and economic issues, the Cyprus question and relations between Turkey and Greece.
During the meeting, results of Copenhagen Summit and functioning of the Customs Union will be taken up.
Developments in Iraq and Cyprus are expected to brought onto agenda of the meeting in detail.
At the end of the meeting, Gul and Papandreou will hold a press conference.
