BODYGUARDS OF TURKISH EMBASSY
Those who loot tried to enter Turkish embassy in Baghdad with a different reason every day. As they failed to break the iron bars of the door, they tried to demolish the walls with vehicles.
However, Palestinian brothers Suheyp and Samir, together with their elder brother countered the attacks with Sudanese officials of the embassy. Their elder brother was slightly injured in an attack.
Suheyp, who is 30 years old, said, ''we are Turkish. We feel ourselves as Turkish citizens. We defend Turkey here,'' yet added that they have no more foodstuff and ammunition, and that they could not resist more.

GUL: WE WILL TAKE PLACE IN RE-BUILDING OF IRAQ
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said the United States gave assurances that Turkey would take role in re-building process of Iraq. Gul said they would be in an effort to make use of the opportunities.

FM GUL: NOBODY GOES BEYOND OUR LINE
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said nobody went beyond their red lines, stating that there was not the danger of Turkish-Kurdish clash. What in fact makes Ankara concerned is eruption of Kurdish-Turkish clash and spreading of this clash to the region.

ERDOGAN WANTS TO ENLIVEN SPIRIT OF D8
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan covers the traces of Necmettin Erbakan.
Erdogan will go to Malaysia next month, which is one of the D8 countries, all of which were comprised of Moslem countries. Erbakan had exerted great efforts for foundation of D8. Saban Disli, one of the deputy chairmen of Justice and Development Party (AK Party), had gone to Malaysia and held contacts prior to the visit of Erdogan.

AKSIT: ''WE EXPECT 15 MILLION FOREIGN TOURISTS''
Turkish tourism sector, which experienced difficult days due to the U.S.-led military action against Iraq, has launched initiatives to promote Turkey. Tourism Minister Guldal Aksit said that target of the initiatives was to promote Turkey to the whole world. ''we expect 15 million foreign tourists to come to Turkey in 2003. In that case, our tourism revenue will increase to 13 billion U.S. dollars,'' she said.

GUL: ''GOVERNMENT HAS WELL MANAGED THE CRISIS''
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said, ''the government has well managed the Iraq crisis.'' Speaking at a program on the private Channel-7 TV, Gul said, ''some circles claimed that price of one U.S. dollars would increase up to 2-3 million Turkish liras. However, none of these claims came real. The government has well managed the Iraq crisis. It has taken all necessary measures. I believe that our economy will revive in the spring.''

CRITICAL TURNING POINT IN CYPRUS
Turkey enters into a difficult period in foreign policy with the decisions that would be taken by the United Nations Security Council, and the European Union (EU) this week about Cyprus.
The U.N. Security Council, with a draft resolution that is expected to be accepted today, leaves solution of the problem to the EU. The EU will sign Accession Agreement of nine countries and Greek Cyprus Greek Cypriot administration in a summit that would take place in Athens on Wednesday.

KANADOGLU: TERRORISM NEVER SLEEPS
Sabih Kanadoglu, the Chief Prosecutor of Supreme Court of Appeals, said Turkey had lived together with the concept of terrorism for years. International links of separatist terrorist organizations were revealed. Expectation for the international terrorism to remain silent in the region after Iraq war is an optimistic possibility. Fight against organized organizations can only take place in an organized way.

GUL: WE HAVE OVERCOME THE CRISIS SUCCESSFULLY
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, who addressed a TV program in a private TV channel, pointed out that the government covered a successful policy in Iraq crisis.
Pointing out that some claimed that Turkey would turn to Argentina and that one U.S. dollars would worth of three million Turkish lira, Gul said, ''none of them happened. The government administered the crisis well, and took all necessary measures.''

AID BRIDGE TO IRAQ
After the United States gets control of Baghdad, Turkey is getting prepared to set up aid bridge. The first aid to Iraq will be in the field of health. In case the United States issues security permission, those who are in Baghdad hospital will be transported to Turkey with planes belonging to General Staff.

ISRAELI FOREIGN MINISTER SHALOM IN TURKEY
Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom arrived in Ankara yesterday as the guest of Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul. Shalom will proceed from Istanbul to Ankara today. He will be received by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. After bilateral and interdelegationary meetings, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and Shalom will hold a joint press conference.

RUSSIAN VESSEL COLLIDES WITH TURKISH VESSEL
Russian-flagged cargo vessel ''Mikhail Kuruyev'' collided with Turkish-flagged cargo vessel ''Mustafa Sofuoglu'' off Amasra town of northern province of Bartin. Water begun to leak into Turkish-flagged vessel. Crew members of the vessel were rescued by an Azerbaijani-flagged cargo vessel. Meanwhile, Russian-flagged vessel managed to flee from the area following the collision.

ARINC: ''WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN IRAQ IN COMING DAYS CONCERNS TURKEY''
Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc said, ''what will happen in Iraq in coming days concerns Turkey.'' Responding questions of journalists in central province of Nevsehir, Arinc said, ''we all knew what has been happening in Iraq. We hope that recent developments will not cause a serious change in our geography. Also, we hope that incidents in Iraq will not spread to other countries. We wish that Iraq's territorial integrity will be protected in a regime to be chosen by Iraqi people.''
