HERE IS THE SORROWFUL REALITY
Ankara, which was shocked with entrance of peshmergas to Kirkuk and Mosul, now face to face with official recognition fait accompli of Greek Cypriot side, which it has not recognized for 29 years.
Signing ceremony, regarded with accession of 10 candidate countries to the European Union (EU), will take place in Athens on April 16. Greek Cypriot side, which Ankara has not recognized for 29 years, will also put its signature. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also invited to the signing ceremony.
In case Erdogan goes to Athens for the ceremony in which full membership of Greek Cypriot side to the EU would be signed, Turkey would officially confirm ''Republic of Cyprus'' which it has not recognized for 29 years.

GUL POSTPONES VISIT TO SYRIA
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, upon the recent developments, postponed his visit to Syria, which was planned to take place on Sunday.
Some circles had criticized Gul's planned visit to Syria saying it was not right ''in timing'' at a time when the United States showed Syria as target.

INTERESTING FIGURE OF SPEECH FROM CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF
Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok had interesting evaluations during his meeting with the members of Parliamentary National Defense Commission. Gen. Ozkok said, ''we work in harmony like an orchestra. Turkish army, prime minister, president, foreign minister and National Security Council (NSC) work in coordination.''

WAR HAS ENDED FOR TURKEY
War lasted short. Nightmare scenarios in economy were not implemented. Everybody took a relaxed breath. Figures and statements of businessmen for future are giving hope.
Automotive sector, which sold 11,000 in January, 9,000 in February, and 15,000 in March, expect a sale of 20,000 for April.

''TURKEY WILL NOT ENTER NORTHERN IRAQ''
A meeting was held under the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to take a decision whether or not Turkey should enter northern Iraq. During the meeting, it was decided, ''the United States has pledged to take peshmergas out of Kirkuk and Mosul. A military intervention is not required for the time being.'' Meanwhile, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said that peshmergas had begun withdrawing from Kirkuk. He added that three liaison teams were sent to the region under the compromise reached between Turkey and the United States.

GENERAL OZKOK: ''SADDAM IS IN IRAQ''
General Staff Chief General Hilmi Ozkok said, ''Saddam Hussein is still in Iraq. Maybe, he is trying to escape. However, the United States will not allow him to escape. There is not any country that will accept Saddam. He will probably be captured and tried as a war criminal.''

THEY WILL DEPART FROM THERE
Turkish Armed Forces reviewed its plans and intimidated peshmergas who entered Kirkuk and Mosul. Liaison officers are in northern Iraq. Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok said no concession would be made.
Gen. Hilmi Ozkok said the United States gave assurances to Turkey that no kurdish state would be formed in northern Iraq. Gen. Ozkok said, ''the United States got peshmergas under control. Peshmergas will go out of Mosul and Kirkuk. Their staying there can not be in question. We can not make concession in this respect. We have preparations, nobody should feel concern.''

ANAP ENTERS PARLIAMENT
Hakkari Independent Parliamentarian Mustafa Zeydan joined the Motherland Party (ANAP). Thus ANAP became the fourth party represented in the Parliament after Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Republican People's Party (CHP), and True Path Party (DYP).
Zeydan, who made a written statement yesterday, pointed out that he would continue his political life under the roof of ANAP from now on.

''WE ARE READY TO ENTER NORTHERN IRAQ''
While Kurds and the U.S. soldiers have entered Mosul, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said, ''we warned the United States. The U.S. sides assured us that their guarantees were still valid. Local elements have begun withdrawing from Mosul and Kirkuk. Our liaison teams have arrived in the region. Our troops have been kept ready to enter northern Iraq whenever it is necessary.''

ANAP ENTERS PARLIAMENT
The Motherland Party (ANAP), which could not exceed the threshold in the general elections of November 3, 2002, has entered the parliament. Mustafa Zeydan, an independent deputy from Hakkari, joined ANAP. Now, the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has 365 seats at the parliament while the Republican People's Party (CHP) has 177, the True Path Party (DYP) has 3 and the ANAP has 1. Meanwhile, there are 4 independent deputies.

SCREAM OF TURKMEN: ''WHERE IS TURKEY?''
Cemal Sen, member of National Turkmen Party in Kirkuk said, ''they raid and loot our houses. Turkey and the United States would protect us. Where are they? Are they waiting for us to be eradicated?''

SARS WARNING FROM FOREIGN MINISTRY
Foreign Ministry recommended Turkish citizens not to visit far east countries because of ''Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)'' virus.
Ministry statement on the issue called Turkish citizens not to visit the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong Private Administration Region, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand.

ZAMAN (CONSERVATIVE)

RESOLUTION ON SO-CALLED ARMENIAN GENOCIDE SUBMITTED TO U.S. CONGRESS
A draft resolution including the expression of 'Armenian genocide' was submitted to the U.S. Congress. The draft resolution, which was submitted by George Radanovich and Adam Schiff, does not target Turkey directly. It aims at commemorating and supporting the United States's signing the Convention on Prevention of Crime of Genocide.

OTTOMAN MANUSCRIPTS LOOTED
Peshmergas of the Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) have taken control of Mosul, the third biggest city of Iraq with a population of 600 thousand. While the 5th Iraqi Army Corps surrendered to the U.S. soldiers, a serious looting has begun in the city. Mosul University Library was among the places which were looted. There were priceless manuscripts in the library belonged to the Ottoman Empire era.
