Exports To Iraq As A Part Of U.N. Oil For Food Program Will Be Made Via Iskenderun Port

ANKARA - Foreign Trade Undersecretary Tuncer Kayalar said on Monday that exports to be made to Iraq as a part of the United Nations (U.N.) oil for food program would be made via Iskenderun Port.
Kayalar issued a statement in which he said that the application made by the Undersecretariat for transfer of prior goods to Iraq within the framework of the U.N. Security Council resolution 1472 was responded by the U.N. Secretariat General.
Within that framework, goods having priority would be transferred to Iraq via Iskenderun Port, Kayalar noted.
Kayalar said that independent organization Cotegna charged by the U.N. would start to work in Iskenderun in coming days to conduct procedures related with the goods.
The goods would be sent to logistic centers in line with the instructions of the U.N, Kayalar stated.
Kayalar said that they expected minimum 250 trucks a day and 47,500 trucks a month to dispatch goods to Iraq.
