Turkey Continues Its Initiatives For Civilians In Iraq

ANKARA - While Turkey continues its initiatives for civilians who suffer from war in Iraq, a meeting will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday with participation of Turkish Red Crescent, International Red Cross and the U.S. officials.
Sources said on Monday that Ankara which launches initiatives for wounded Iraqi women and children had already consulted with international organizations in Iraq.
Bringing the wounded people to Turkey for medical treatment, sending necessary medicine and medical equipment and a field hospital, and assigning medical personnel were among the aid that Turkey planned to extend, sources said.
Those efforts are underway in coordination among the Health Ministry, Red Crescent and Association of Doctors while Ankara continues dialogue with the U.S. authorities regarding the issue of security and safety.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said the same day that the Red Crescent had prepared eight trucks laden with humanitarian aid for civilians in Iraq.
