ISTANBUL - Istanbul became sister city with Skopje, Macedonia.
Speaking at ceremony which was held in TUYAP, Tourism Minister Guldal Aksit said that she believed that sister city protocol between Istanbul and Skopje would further improve relations between the two countries.
Istanbul Mayor Ali Mufit Gurtuna said that there were ties coming from the past between Turkey and Macedonia and stated that he believed that relations would be further improved with this protocol.
Skopje Mayor Risto Penov said that this was a very important protocol for Skopje and stated that the protocol would yield significant results in economic and cultural fields.
Later, Gurtuna and Penov signed the protocol.
The protocol was also signed by Aksit.
