ANKARA - Justice Minister Cemil Cicek said on Thursday that the assistance to be made to the U.S. didn't require the adoption of a new motion.
Afghan Justice Minister Abdul Rahim Karimi who is currently in Turkey as the official guest of Justice Ministry, visited Cicek the same day.
Addressing the meeting, Cicek said that Turkey had always considered Afghanistan as a friendly country, and that a new period started in Afghanistan. Cicek said that Turkey's support to Afghanistan would continue and efforts would be launched to improve the relations between Turkey and Afghanistan.
The guest minister Karimi said that the friendly relations which existed during the communist regime slowed down, adding that the relations would further improve in the new period. Karimi said that Afghanistan wanted to benefit from the experience of Turkey.
''How does Afghanistan consider the operation against Iraq?'' asked journalists Karimi who said that the Iraqi policy of Afghanistan was known.
''Iraqi people are our Muslim brothers, we want the war to end as soon as possible and the peace to prevail,'' he said.
When asked if the assistance to be provided to the U.S. would necessitate a new motion, Cicek said that Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul issued statements about the issue and this aid didn't require the adoption of any motion.
''The relations of Turkey with the U.S. don't require the adoption of a new motion and taking a new authority from the parliament,'' Cicek said.
