ATHENS - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter to his Greek counterpart Costas Simitis on Wednesday and thanked him for Greek government's effective cooperation in putting an end to hijacking of the Turkish Airlines (THY) plane.
In his letter, Prime Minister Erdogan thanked Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou, Public Order Minister Mikhail Khrisokhoidis, Security Director General Fotios Nasiyakos and security officials George Angelakos and Dimitri Chiuvaras who played an important role in overcoming the crisis.
''This unfortunate incident proved importance of cooperation between our governments. Relations between Turkey and Greece have further strengthened following the incident,'' he said.
