ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy leader Dengir Mir Mehmet Firat said on Monday that closing Turkish airspace to planes of foreign countries was out of question.
Following the AK Party Central Executive Board meeting, Firat told reporters that a motion on opening the airspace was passed from the parliament.
Firat said that developments in Iraq war, Cyprus and economic issues were taken up during their meeting.
Cyprus issue would come onto the agenda again in the near future, Firat noted.
Firat said that Cyprus issue would be taken up again with a quintet formation, comprised of sides in Cyprus, guarantor states and the United Nations (U.N.).
The first regular congress of AK Party was also debated, Firat stated.
Firat said that the bills on uniting environment and forestry ministries and culture and tourism ministries would be sent to parliament soon.
Asked if AK Party had an initiative regarding economic crisis, Firat said that citizens, non-governmental organizations and unions had big demands about not only donation but also borrowing.
Firat noted that the government believed in importance of activating internal sources instead of bringing onto agenda a demand.
Sources would be revealed and be announced soon, Firat stated.
Replying to a question on claims that some members of the Council of Ministers expressed view that Turkish airspace should be closed to U.S. planes, Firat said that such an issue was out of question.
Firat noted that a motion was passed from the parliament and the airspace was open.
