Aksit: We Expect Around Two Million Tourists From Russia And Cis Countries To Visit Turkey This Year

ANKARA - Tourism Minister Guldal Aksit said on Friday that they expected around two million tourists from Russian Federation and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries to visit Turkey this year.
Tourism Minister Aksit participated in International Moscow Tourism Fair.
Speaking at a news conference, Aksit stressed that the fair was important for Turkey. Aksit said Turkey was the second tourism market for Russian Federation and CIS countries after Germany, stating that tourism movements from those countries started in 1992.
Aksit said the visits, which started aiming at trade at the beginning, turned into a tourism of holiday and culture in time.
Aksit said Turkey is a big country in geographical means, noting that Turkey's touristic destinations were far away from Iraqi border.
Aksit said, ''it is indispensable for the world tourism to be effected from the action against Iraq. We wish this action to end soon with the minimum loss.''
