Talks With Khalilzad To Begin On Friday The Soonest

ANKARA - Talks between U.S. President George W. Bush's envoy for Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad and Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Ali Tuygan will begin on Friday the soonest.
Sources said on Wednesday that Khalilzad, who held contacts in the Foreign Ministry on Monday and Tuesday, is expected to go to Northern Iraq or Europe.
Khalilzad will not return to Ankara before Friday.
The number and capacity of Turkish soldiers to be sent to Northern Iraq and how far Turkish soldiers would go in Northern Iraq were taken up during negotiations with Khalilzad.
Turkey, which wants to send soldiers to Northern Iraq to prevent terrorism and to ensure border security, demands its soldiers to be under national command instead of the command of the coalition forces.
