WASHINGTON - White House spokesman Ari Fleischer thanked on Thursday more than 35 countries, including Turkey which are supporting the U.S. operation against Iraq.
Fleischer counted Turkey among the countries supporting the U.S. operation against Iraq and recalled that Turkish parliament allowed the use of the air space.
Replying to questions if Turkey was proposed an aid package in return for the use of its air space, Fleischer said, ''previously there had been discussion of a package of aid for Turkey that was contingent on Turkey's total cooperation. That did not develop and that package is not on the table and that package will not be on the table.''
Ari Fleischer said in his press conference on Wednesday that the White House did not totally rule out assistance for Turkey.
U.S. State Undersecretary Marc Grossman had implied that they could think of extending assistance to Turkey in case other demands of the United States were met.
