Khalilzad: War Will Last Short And Nothing Will Happen To Civilians

ISTANBUL - U.S. President George W. Bush's adviser for Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad said on Thursday that the U.S. attack against Iraq would last short and stated that nothing would happen to civilians.
Prior to his departure for Britain, Khalilzad who attended the meetings which brought Turkish officials and Iraqi opposition groups together in Ankara replied to questions of reporters at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
Stating that they got very successful and good results in his visit to Turkey, Khalilzad said that ''the future of Iraq'' was taken up at the meetings in Ankara and everything would be done for Iraqi people.
Recalling that the U.S. attack against Iraq started, Khalilzad said that the war would last short and nothing would happen to civilian people. He added that they would also exert every kinds of efforts for Iraqi people after the war.
Upon a question on the motion which would be discussed at the parliament the same day, Khalilzad said that they would see what Turkish parliament would do regarding the issue.
