Debates On Budget To Start After Vote Of Confidence

ANKARA - A compromise was reached at the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Tuesday to start debates on the budget for the year 2003 following the vote of confidence on March 23, 2003.
The Consultative Committee convened under the chairmanship of Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc.
Responding questions of journalists following the meeting, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Group Chairman Eyup Fatsa said that the parliamentary process about program of the 59th government and schedule of the budget for the year 2003 were taken up at the meeting.
''The program of the 59th government will be read out at the Parliamentary General Assembly later in the day. Debates on the program will be held on March 21. The Parliamentary General Assembly will convene at 11.00 a.m. on March 23 and hold a vote of confidence for the new government,'' he said.
Fatsa told reporters, ''following the vote of confidence, the Parliamentary General Assembly will start debating the budget for the year 2003. These debates are expected to last for six days.''
Responding a question about the Prime Ministry motion on dispatch of Turkish soldiers abroad and deployment of foreign armed forces in Turkey, Fatsa said, ''after the program of the 59th government is read out at the Parliamentary General Assembly, the Council of Ministers will convene. During the meeting, a decision is expected to be taken about timing of submission of the motion.''
