Turkey Condemns Assassination Of Serbian Prime Minister

ANKARA - Ankara condemned on Wednesday assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic and offered condolences to people of Serbia-Montenegro.
A statement of the Foreign Ministry said that Djindjic lost his life in the armed attack staged earlier in the day.
The statement noted, ''we condemn this terrorist attack which killed Djindjic, who had very positive contributions to peace and stability in not only his country but also the region and who was known with his reformist personality, and offer condolences to people of Serbia-Montenegro.''
The Foreign Ministry hoped that demise of Djindjic, who had a leading role in healing the wounds of a sorrowful period in former Yugoslavia during 1990s and in the beginning of integration of his country with Euro-Atlantic organizations, would not have negative impact on peace and stability in the country and region.
