ISKENDERUN - Police Chief Ihsan Unal of southern province of Hatay said on Wednesday that four members of the Turkish Communist Party (TKP) were taken into custody after this morning's anti-United States demonstration at Iskenderun Port and added that they would be transferred to the court.
Noting that security forces had been trying to identify 96 people, who were taken to the Provincial Directorate of Security following the demonstration, Unal said, ''all kinds of activities should be held under the rules and laws.''
Earlier in the day, around 150 members of the TKP tried to force their way through the gates of Iskenderun Port by chanting slogans against the United States. When security forces blocked their way, scuffles broke out. Security forces fired in the air to disperse the demonstrators.
