Patriots Promoted To Journalists In Diyarbakir

DIYARBAKIR - The patriots which were deployed in the Eighth Jet Main Base Command in southeastern Diyarbakýr province were promoted to journalists on Tuesday.
General Mustafa Cortuksoken, the Commander of the base said that the command was very important for the security of Turkey.
Patriot Air Defense System's Commander the Dutch Lieutenant Colonel Eric Harry Abma said in his part that they came to Batman and Diyarbakýr to strengthen the protection against Iraq. He said that two of the three systems were set up in Diyarbakýr and one of them was set up in Batman, reminding the journalists that they came to Turkey upon the demand of Turkey on Feb. 28.
''The systems were set up on March 11, the patriots can control an area of 150 kilometers. It keeps under control Turkey's border with Syria and Iraq. Totally 360 personnel are in charge.''
