Erdogan: Will Of People Has Corrected A Mistake

ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday regarding by-election in southeastern province of Siirt that the will of people had corrected a mistake.
Erdogan said that the elections which had been held on November 3, 2002 were completed with by-election on March 9, 2003 and added that the democracy which was strengthened with November 3 elections gained momentum with March 9 by-election.
Noting that March 9, 2003 became a historical turning point in Turkey's fight for democracy, laws and justice, Erdogan said that they shouldered country issues without receiving the message of people sufficiently in November 3 elections. He added that from now on, they could interpret people's preferences and messages with healthier analysis and said that they would exert efforts to give appropriate response to the confidence of people.
Erdogan said that they had been emphasizing the importance of social confidence and national consensus before and after November 3 elections. He added that they considered political, administrative, legal and financial confidence as basis.
Noting that they had self confidence, Erdogan thanked people of Siirt who undertook important role in the country's fight for justice and development.
