ISTANBUL - Istanbul Deputy Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah said on Sunday, ''security forces impounded 77.6 kg of heroin in an operation in Silivri town of Istanbul. A total of nine people were detained in the operation.''
Holding a press conference at the Provincial Directorate of Security, Cerrah said, ''in an operation, which was launched on March 5 in cooperation between Narcotics Department and Organized Crimes Department, a vehicle was stopped near Silivri town. During the search, security forces impounded 77.6 kg of heroin. During the operation, a total of nine people were detained.''
''During their interrogation, the detainees confessed that they planned to market the heroin in the Netherlands,'' he added.
