ANKARA - Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis said on Saturday that it would be misleading to put a time frame about bringing the Prime Ministry motion on dispatch of Turkish soldiers abroad and deployment of foreign armed forces in Turkey onto parliamentary agenda.
Responding questions of journalists following the meeting at the Prime Ministry Office on foreign policy issues, Yakis said, ''Ankara should complete its assessments about a possible military action against Iraq before taking a decision to submit the second motion to the parliament. The process of assessment has still been continuing.''
Responding a question about news stories claiming that members of the U.S. Congress, who have been holding contacts in Ankara, gave some guarantees to Turkey, Yakis said, ''we do not expect guarantee from anyone. However, we have been assessing all factors.''
Responding another question, Yakis said, ''we also assess making some changes in the second motion. During the debates at the United Nations Security Council, it was proposed to give time to Iraq till March 17 to fulfill the resolution of the United Nations Security Council no: 1441. Therefore, it will be misleading to put a time frame about bringing the Prime Ministry motion onto parliamentary agenda at this point.''
