ANKARA - Exports from Turkey to member countries to the European Union (EU) increased 38 percent to 3.4 billion U.S. dollars in the first two months of 2003.
During January-February period of the year, exports to Germany increased 30.3 percent to 1 billion 69 million U.S. dollars, exports to France rose 31 percent to 376 million U.S. dollars, exports to the Netherlands climbed 54 percent to 217 million U.S. dollars, exports to Britain increased 37 percent to 485 million U.S. dollars and exports to Italy rose 36.1 percent to 445 million U.S. dollars.
Exports to member countries to the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) rose 21 percent to 69 million U.S. dollars, exports to central east European countries increased 49.5 percent to 320 million U.S. dollars, and exports to Commonwealth of Independent States climbed 31.8 percent to 377 million U.S. dollars.
Exports to other European countries increased 23.1 percent to 133 million U.S. dollars, exports to Middle Eastern countries rose 20 percent to 615 million U.S. dollars and exports to north African countries climbed 29.7 percent to 227 million U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, exports to member countries to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) increased 30.7 percent to 630 million U.S. dollars.
Exports to the United States rose by 29.4 percent to 590 million U.S. dollars.
Exports to Latin American countries decreased 7 percent to 44 million U.S. dollars.
In the same period, exports to other Asian countries increased 35.1 percent to 219 million U.S. dollars.
