Weston And Wexler In Ankara

ANKARA - Thomas Weston, the special coordinator of the U.S. State Department for Cyprus, and Robert Wexler, the co-president of Turkish-American Friendship Group of the U.S. House of Representatives, arrived in Ankara on Thursday to hold contacts.
Addressing journalists at Ankara's Esenboga Airport after his arrival, Weston said that he would exchange views with Turkish officials before the meeting to be held in the Hague on March 10.
Weston noted that they had been supporting efforts of United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Meanwhile, Wexler said in his part that the United States was one of the most important friends of Turkey and added that they targeted to further improve strategic partnership between Turkey and the United States.
Upon a question on the Prime Ministry motion about dispatch of Turkish soldiers abroad and deployment of foreign armed forces in Turkey, Wexler said that the Turkish parliament would take the decision about the motion.
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Robert Pearson welcomed Weston and Wexler.
