SOLDIER'S MOTION
Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok said that they were supporting the motion of the government and noted, ''because we will suffer the same damage if we don't join the war. But, it will never be possible for us to compensate our loss and have a right to speak after the war.'' Ozkok said, ''it is a reality in the current stage that Turkey does not have the possibility and capability to prevent a war on its own. But, we cannot make our calculations by supposing that war will not break out. Unfortunately, our choice is between the bad and worse, not between the good and bad. We should either totally stay outside or join the process by helping those who fight. Some of our losses can be compensated if we help those who fight. We will send humanitarian aid to refugees in Northern Iraq without joining those who fight.''

A WARM MESSAGE AND A WARNING TO KURDS
Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok said, ''we are slaves of the geography we are living. We have no other place to go and no other new friend and neighbor to gain. There are kinship ties between our people. We have been beside them in their most problematic days. They know this well. We have never deceived them and we have never lied to them. We are a noble nation which has not even burnt the flag of the countries which occupied our country. We are a proud nation. Those who want to replace peace with clashes will undertake new consequences and responsibilities stemming from this. I remind them our legitimate right to defend.''

GEN. OZKOK: THE WORST IS TO BE OUT OF IT
Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok emphasized that they shared the same view with government concerning the motion and said that they should act together with the United States for national interests. Making a statement prior to his meeting with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas, Ozkok said that Turkey would make a choice between bad and worse, not good and bad.

GUL IS READY FOR RESIGNATION
Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who went to Qatar to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), replied the question whether he would resign after by-election in southeastern Siirt province as, ''things which will happen shall not be left hanging in the air.'' He added that Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan would decide whether Gul would take part in a new cabinet.

SOLDIER SAYS MOTION
Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok said, ''view of Turkish Armed Forces is like how it is reflected in the motion submitted to the parliament by the government. Everything happened in line with the democratic process.'' Ozkok noted, ''a request for a recommendatory decision was not brought to the National Security Council (NSC). The NSC meeting was held after the motion was submitted to parliament. NSC cannot make recommendation to parliament.''

INTERESTS FALL AFTER STATEMENTS OF OZKOK
Statement of Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok was a dope on the markets which are in an expectation of U.S. assistance. After Ozkok made his statement which backed the prime ministry motion, the markets returned to their level before the voting on the first motion. The stock exchange rose and U.S. dollar decreased. After non-adoption of first motion at parliament, the interest rates climbed over 62 percent. But, they fell 6 points after Ozkok's statements.
