Gul: Gen. Ozkok's Statement Is A Good Statement

DOHA - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday ''As I read, it is a good statement'' concerning Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok's statement.
Gul responded the questions of reporters in Qatari capital Doha where he went to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
When recalled Ozkok's statement, Gul said that it was a good statement.
Ozkok had said that view of Turkish Armed Forces was the same with the government and it was like how it was reflected in the motion submitted to the parliament by the government.
When recalled that he would resign from his position as prime minister after by-elections in Siirt and asked his evaluations, Gul said that he would make the evaluations while resigning.
While replying the question whether he would take place in the new government, Gul said that new prime minister would take this decision.
When asked whether he discussed the issue with President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Gul said that President would surely see the realities and certainly knew the current situation. He added, ''President will certainly consider it normal after the leader of a party which has a majority in Parliament will enter Parliament. Everything is clear.''
When recalled interpretations that he would like to be the Prime Minister who submitted the motion, Gul said that those were not true and he felt sad with those interpretations, adding that he even revealed his vote.
Upon a question whether a new government would be formed until March 15, Gul said, ''Things which will happen shall not be left hanging in the air.''
Gul said that everybody asked him in OIC meeting that whether a new motion would be submitted, added that they were in evaluation period regarding the motion.
When asked Turkey's view regarding the suggestion of United Arab Emirates to send Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein into exile, Gul said that Turkey had been saying from the beginning that Iraqi leadership could prevent war and upon a question ''What should we understand from this answer?'' Gul said that they supported every political solution.
Evaluating Iraq-Kuwait discussion in OIC meeting, Gul said that those were unfortunately bitter realities and now it was time to be cold-blooded and realistic for everybody.
Gul said that he did not hold any bilateral meeting regarding Iraq issue in OIC meeting.
Gul held bilateral meetings with Malaysian Prime Minister, Yemeni Head of State, Egyptian Head of State, Palestinian Foreign Minister and Qatari Emir.
