U.S. Embassy: Passage Of Attaches To Northern Iraq Is Out Of Question

ANKARA - The U.S. Embassy in Ankara said on Wednesday that the news reports that two U.S. military attaches wanted to proceed to Northern Iraq, did not reflect the facts.
The Embassy officials said the military attaches were in Diyarbakir for humanitarian aid purposes, and that their passage to Northern Iraq was out of question.
The officials denied the news reports claiming that the military attaches wanted to help 50 U.S. soldiers to pass to Northern Iraq and there was only the Turkish gendarme together with the military attaches.
News reports appeared in media that two U.S. military attaches and 50 U.S. soldiers wanted to proceed to Northern Iraq, but that they were returned from the Habur Border Gate as they did not have passage permission.
