Yalcinbayir: Turkey Has Suffered Several Losses Due To Close War Threat

ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ertugrul Yalcinbayir said on Tuesday that Turkey had suffered several losses due to close war threat.
Replying questions of reporters, Yalcinbayir said, ''Turkey has the right to apply to United Nations (U.N.) Security Council when necessary for compensation of these losses. This demand will be made when necessary.''
Asked what would happen if a second motion was adopted by parliament after it was submitted by a government led by Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Yalcinbayir said that necessary decisions would be made by taking into consideration the interests of the country in such a case.
Asked what he thought about the view of the public opinion that tax was imposed on people because U.S. assistance was not accepted, Yalcinbayir said, ''there is not any connection between the motion and our economic interests. Turkish Republic has suffered several losses due to a close war threat not due to this motion. It has nothing to do with the motion because Turkey has the right to apply to U.N. Security Council when necessary for compensation of these losses.''
Yalcinbayir added, ''these can be included in the ongoing process. Because, the U.N. has some possibilities which are provided to the countries which are under war threat and which suffer from this threat when peace is being preserved. We endure some issues to preserve peace. We undertake some cost and pay it as a nation. Therefore, there are decisions that the U.N. Security Council make in favor of us in return for all these initiatives. This demand will be made when necessary.''
