ISTANBUL - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener said on Saturday that he hoped that bill on labor security in institutions to be privatized would be passed from parliament in the following week.
Sener met with representatives of institutions to be privatized. Administrators from Atakoy Marina Yacht Enterprises Inc, Atakoy Hotel Management Inc, Atakoy Tourism Facilities Trade Inc, Meat and Fishery Products Inc, Sumer Holding Inc, Tobacco and Liquor Administration, Turkish Sea Enterprises Inc, and Turkish Airlines (THY) Corporation attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Sener said that they were holding that meeting in order to overcome deficiencies in privatization initiatives.
Sener noted that they liquidated Turkish Agricultural Supply Agency, Turkish Engine Industry and Trade Inc. (TUMOSAN) and Prime Ministry Tourism Enterprises Inc. (TURBAN) and united them under Sumer Holding.
The government was determined to privatize some institutions which were not efficiently working, Sener stated.
Under the bill, permanent and temporary staff of the institutions under privatization would have labor security, Sener said.
Sener noted that those personnel could apply to public institutions after the privatization and could be employed under the status of civil servant.
They would give social security and health guarantee under that bill, Sener pointed out.
Sener said that preparations for labor law continued and they would be completed in the first week of March.
A compromise was reached between representatives of employers and employees at a great extent, Sener noted.
Sener added that the bill would be submitted to parliament in coming days.
