BURSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ambassador in Ankara Ahmet Zeki Bulunc said on Saturday United Nations (U.N.) Secretary General Kofi Annan's Cyprus Special Envoy Alvaro De Soto assumed an attitude going beyond his mission.
Bulunc replied questions of reporters.
When asked whether or not attitude presentation of the changes in Annan's plan for Cyprus to Turkey before TRNC PResident Rauf Denktas was an initiative to exclude TRNC President Rauf Denktas, Bulunc said De Soto thought it as a method.
Stating that De Soto directed to wrong implementations since the day he started his mission, Bulunc said, ''De Soto, while starting his mission, pointed out that 'I will only stay as an observer, not a consultant. However, as the negotiation process developed, he tried to make a direction by misconveying the information. Although all the proposals were made by TRNC President Denktas, he tried to show Clerides more compromising, and our President intransigent.''
Stating that De Soto failed in Copenhagen Summit and that ''Annan Document'' caused some negative elements in solution of the question, Bulunc said De Soto thought of creating pressure on Denktas by making lobby activities with some proposals which he directly brought to Turkey.
Bulunc said this attitude was not accepted in Turkey and the TRNC, and noted that, ''our president reacted against this. Turkey either did not adopt such an approach and clearly revealed that the negotiation process should take place in TRNC. Thus, De Soto assumes an attitude going beyond his mission. It is impossible for us to accept it.''
Replying a question about the reflections of the results of elections in Greek Cypriot side, Bulunc said election of a person as leader, who had been a supporter of EOKA, meant Greek Cypriots rejected Annan document.
He said results of elections showed that enosis decisions still continued, and that Greek Cypriots never gave up their enosis intention.
