ISTANBUL - Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (COEPA) Inspection Commission's Turkey Co-Rapporteurs Luc Van Den Brande from Belgium and Mady Delvaux Stehres from Luxembourg visited Association of Independent Industrialists and Businessmen (MUSIAD) on Friday.
Issuing a written statement on the issue, MUSIAD said that they were in Turkey to inspect to what extent Turkey fulfilled its obligations as a COE member and to report its shortcomings if any. Rapporteurs asked questions to MUSIAD about issues of human rights, democracy and supremacy of law. MUSIAD told the COEPA Rapporteurs that improvements were recorded in those fields recently.
When rapporteurs asked MUSIAD's views about the economic performance of the government, MUSIAD said that a period of at least six months was necessary to assess the government's performance in economic field from an objective point of view.
