ANKARA - Iraqi Ambassador to Turkey Talib Abid Salih said that war would harm not only Iraq, but also people of the region.
Salih visited on Wednesday Moral Rights Workers Union (Hak-is) Chairman Salim Uslu.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting which was closed to press, Uslu said that he and Salih discussed developments in Iraq at the meeting.
Stating that Hak-Is supported initiatives against war and took its place in platforms against war, Uslu said that reason of war was not ethical and just.
Uslu said that they were in favor of peaceful solution in Iraq and added that initiatives for a peaceful solution should be continued.
Uslu stated that initiatives of the government for settlement of peace in Iraq was very good and noted, ''we believe that deputies will reject the second motion which is pressed to be brought onto the agenda of the parliament. The world, Muslim countries, peoples, nongovernmental organizations are against war. Turkish government should not be in favor of war.''
Salih who thanked to Hak-Is and Turkish people for supporting actions against war said that aim of the United States was to control Iraqi oil and re-draw map of the region.
Stating that protests against war were held in the world after people understood aim of the United States, Salih said that the United States and Britain left alone.
Salih said that there were not any mass destruction weapons in Iraq and added that Iraq was in cooperation with U.N. weapon inspectors.
