Gul To Be Informed About Response Of United States To Turkey's Demands

ANKARA - The United States responded to demands of Turkey during the negotiations in which military issues regarding Northern Iraq in case of a possible U.S. operation against Iraq and the program of the economic support that the United States would give to Turkey were taken up.
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Robert Pearson conveyed the response of the United States to Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal on Wednesday.
Ziyal informed Prime Minister Abdullah Gul about the response of the United States while sources said that political, military and economic talks between the two countries would continue.
The sources said that agreement was reached during the negotiations that Turkish soldiers would be commanded by a Turkish commander while the U.S. soldiers would be under the command of their own commanders in case of a possible military operation.
Agreement was reached on holding activities of the forces of two countries in a center in coordination, the sources noted.
The sources added that the place of this center had not become definite yet.
