ANKARA - The studies between IMF delegation headed by IMF Turkey Desk Chief Juha Kahkonen and economy officials continue.
An important progress was recorded on the letter of intent that will be submitted to IMF within the scope of the fourth review.
The sides are expected to reach a compromise about the 2003 non-interest surplus target and the method of reaching it. The sides focus on measures of decreasing the expenditures in reaching the non-interest surplus target.
Following the completion of the fourth review and the approval of the letter of intent by IMF Executive Directors Board, Turkey can get the tranche of 1.6 billion dollars.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held in Treasury in which officials of Finance Ministry, State Planning Organization and other economy units participated and the recent economic developments were taken up during the meeting.
