ANKARA - Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis said on Monday that the views of Turkey and the United States were quite close with each other in political issues of negotiations.
Yakis responded the questions of reporters after his meeting with State Planning Organization (DPT) Undersecretary Ahmet Tiktik.
Upon a question, Yakis said that the negotiations on memorandum of understanding were not suspended and added that negotiations on military and political issues were continuing.
When asked when the motions would be sent to Parliament, Yakis said that whether the motions would be sent to Parliament or not would be brought into agenda only after the negotiations. He added, ''I cannot set a time because firstly negotiations should be completed. If the United States is in hurry, the earlier we reach an understanding to complete the negotiations, the more rapidly the rest of the calendar operates.''
When a reporters asked, ''If the United States does not sign economic assistance protocol, will the motion not be sent to Parliament?'' Yakis said that if there was not a memorandum of understanding which would be the basis of motion, they could not send it.
Upon another question, Yakis said that three memorandum of understandings were interrelated with each other.
