ANKARA - Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis and State Minister Ali Babacan for Economy returned to Turkey on Sunday after wrapping up their contacts in Washington D.C., the United States.
Addressing journalists at Ankara's Esenboga Airport, Yakis said that recent developments regarding the motion about deployment of foreign soldiers in Turkey and dispatch of Turkish soldiers abroad would be taken up at a meeting to be held at the Prime Ministry later in the day.
When asked whether or not the motion would be submitted to the parliament on February 18, Yakis said that they saw submission of the motion until February 18 difficult.
Meanwhile, Babacan told reporters, ''content of the economic aid package to be given by the United States to Turkey, is becoming concrete. However, the sides could not reach a consensus on amount of the package. We expect the consultation process to come to an end in next few days.''
During their visit to the United States, Yakis and Babacan held talks with U.S. President George W. Bush, President Bush's National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Richard Myers, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, U.S. Treasury Undersecretary John Taylor and other high-level U.S. officials.
