Yakis: Turkey Is Determined To Bring The Motion About Deployment Of U.S. Soldiers Onto Parliamentary Agenda

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis and State Minister Ali Babacan for Treasury arrived in U.S. capital Washington D.C. late on Wednesday to hold a series of contacts.
Addressing journalists after their arrival, Yakis said, ''we have very deep and strategic relations with the United States. We have come to Washington D.C. to hold several contacts.''
When asked whether or not the motion about deployment of U.S. soldiers in Turkey would be debated at the parliament on February 18, Yakis said, ''Turkey is determined to bring the motion onto parliament agenda as soon as possible. There is not any change in our determination.''
Meanwhile, State Minister Babacan said that they did not plan any meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials.
Yakis is scheduled to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell on Thursday.
General Staff Plan and Principles Department Director General Nusret Tasdeler and Foreign Trade Undersecretary Tuncay Kayalar are accompanying Foreign Minister Yakis and State Minister Babacan.
