ISTANBUL - Turkish firms of automotive sector aim to break a new record through exports in 2003.
A total of 17 firms exported 2.6 billion U.S. dollars of products in automotive sector in 2002.
Tofas, Oyak Renault, Ford Otosan, Toyota, Hyundai Assan and Mercedes-Benz Turk will work to export 4 billion U.S. dollars of products in 2003.
Tofas which exported 711 million U.S. dollars of products in 2002 aims to obtain an income of 1 billion U.S. dollars through exports. Tofas exported Fiat Doblo to 54 countries in 2002.
Ford Otosan expects to get an income of 800 million euros through exports in 2003 while Toyota foresees a 87 percent increase in production and make 180 million euros of supplementary investment in 2003.
Mercedes-Benz Turk also aims to obtain an income of 250 million U.S. dollars from exports of bus and truck this year.
