Gul: We Are Exerting Efforts To Solve This Big Crisis

IZMIR - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said, ''we are exerting extreme efforts to result this very big crisis through peace.''
Gul told reporters in Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport that he wished the feast of sacrifice to be a means to peace and tranquility in the region and in the world, stating that they were exerting intense efforts to end the crisis with peaceful means.
Gul said, ''all the world exerts efforts. I hope this crisis will result in peace before entering war atmosphere and before entering an armed clash. As Turkey, we are providing a very big contribution since the beginning. In fact, as Turkey, we visited the whole region when everybody was sitting at their places. Now that they appreciate this.''
Prime Minister Gul said Turkey has economic problems as well as the crisis, adding that they worked hard to recover Turkish economy and to make people reach welfare.
Gul said, ''you see that everything has been taken under discipline when you compare it with the previous years. We are preparing the 2003 budget with the same discipline. We are taking all economic measures that should be taken to make Turkey reach good days. We will reach the happiest days in the coming months and years.''
When a journalist reminded Gul the news reports that giving asylum to Saddam had been discussed during the visit of Iraqi Vice President Taha Yasin Ramadan to Turkey, he said, ''it is not right to open everything that had been discussed in closed meetings. This will shake confidence. We have told them what were necessary to solve this problem through peaceful means. We will be in an effort of peace till to the end.''
