GUNEYSU - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that NATO was expected to assume a positive attitude on application of Turkey.
Speaking to reporters in Rize, Erdogan said that he hoped that Feast of Sacrifice would bring bright days to Turkish people.
Stating that days of feast were the days when friendship and solidarity reached summit, Erdogan said, ''unfortunately we are experiencing Feast of Sacrifice with Iraqi issue threatening peace in the world. I hope that this issue will come to an end through peaceful ways.''
Upon a question regarding attitude of some countries in NATO, Erdogan said, ''we are not the interlocutor of this problem. Those who exert efforts to form this bloc are the interlocutors of this problem. But Turkey did something which is normal. A possible war is in question on our border. Turkey can have some problems in that war. Turkey made this application to take measures. NATO is expected to assume a positive attitude on that issue.''
