ANKARA - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone on Monday and gave information about the initiatives launched by Turkey regarding solution of Iraqi problem through peaceful means.
Prime Ministry Press Center issued a statement and said Gul talked to Putin on the phone the same day.
The statement said bilateral relations were reviewed during the meeting and the sides exchanged views regarding the efforts exerted by the sides for the implementation of the U.N. resolutions about Iraq.
The statement said, ''Mr. Prime Minister briefed Mr. Putin about the initiatives launched by Turkey for the solution of Iraqi problem through peaceful means and about the consultations and cooperation with our ally United States and other neighboring countries.''
During the meeting, it was reported that relations between Turkey and Russia were positive and that they could be further improved with high level contacts.
