ANKARA - Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) delivered the last CN-235 fuselage to Spain on Wednesday.
TAI stated that the fifth and the last CN-235 fuselage which was produced in TAI facilities in accordance with the contract signed on December 21, 2001 was delivered to Spain. It was emphasized in the statement that nearly 4000 parts which were used in the production of the fuselages were fabricated at the TAI facilities.
The contract, regarding the production of a total of five integrated CN-235 fuselages, was signed between EADS-CASA and TAI on 21 December, 2001. The last manufactured fuselage which will be used in the aircraft that will be sold to France by EADS-CASA was shipped on February 5, 2003.
Under the contract signed between CASA and TAI, a total of 50 CN-235 Light Transport Aircraft were produced and delivered to TuAF between 1991 and 1998. Under the follow-on contract which became effective on 23 July 1999 the production of the CN-235s continues with six CN-235 Surveillance Aircraft for the Turkish Navy and three CN-235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft for the Turkish Coast Guard Commands.
