ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener said on Wednesday that the policies which the Central Bank would follow in fight against inflation and its autonomy carried great importance.
Addressing the meeting held by Association of Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen (TUSIAD), Sener said that the government tried to contribute and support the price stability by ensuring financial discipline and by undertaking structural reforms.
Sener stressed that the government would realize its inflation target for the year 2003, adding that the target was to decrease the inflation rate to one digit numbers.
''Turkey's having 26 percent of inflation target in one month is promising in respect of the target to be reached at the end of the year,'' he said, adding that a decrease of 6 percent in inflation rate in 11 months would be enough for our realizing the 20 percent of inflation target in 2003.''
