ANKARA - Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission Chairman Mehmet Dulger received on Wednesday Iraqi Ambassador to Turkey Talip Abid Saleh and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Turkey Khalaf Abass Khalaf Al-Foudari.
Dulger told A.A. correspondent after the meetings that ambassadors paid a visit of courtesy, and he said that they had positive meetings and discussed current developments in the region.
Dulger said, ''Saleh told me that the United States was not in a condition to prove its claim. He said that Iraq opened its doors to United Nations weapon inspectors by opposing sovereignty principle and also gave the authority to destroy any weapons if they found. He added that weapon inspectors could not find any important thing.''
Meanwhile, Saleh said in his part that Iraq did not want Turkey to allow passing of U.S. soldiers and added that there was no difference between only one soldier and army corps and between only one bullet and bombing.
Dulger said that Turkey would not participate in a hot clash and emphasized that there was an authority vacuum in Northern Iraq and Turkey would not allow developments happen against its favor.
Noting that Turkey was seeking for peace till the end and continuing to do so, Dulger said, ''we are looking for international legitimacy in this war. We are looking for resolution of the United Nations. We endured as long as we could.''
Dulger told Saleh that Iraq and its leader Saddam Hussein had very bad images in the world public opinion and said that Iraq should change its image and spend its money for propaganda and change of image, instead of weapons.
